Crossfit kids....day 3!

We had a new face in class today....a big welcome to Margo who did great on her first day! The new skill we covered today was the front squat which we worked into the wod and the game . The game of choice today was Crossfit Baseball! Hit the ball and then frog hop to each base and perform 5 front squats at each base. The kids all did great,as expected, and had a blast to boot. We made huge progress on the kids room as well with both the door and window being cut in. We also had our monkey bars  set up and began the installation of our new zipline. All in all it's been another great day coaching the future of fitness!

Progress on our new kids room

We have been making huge progress on our new 2000 sq ft kids room! The doorways and windows have been cut in and installed. Our new monkey bars are built and being installed today and probably the most fun thing we have (the zip line !) is also being installed. Our classes are grwonig weekly even though the official start of the program has not yet begun. Great beginnings are happening and the word is spreading. Our Crossfit youth athletes are going to dominate their sports. Even better than that we are now laying the foundations for the future of fitness!

Second day..and the class grew!

The second unofficial day of Crossfit Kids classes at Crossfit Relentless saw the class grow by 3 . It now inlcudes Colby,Elsa and Ava! We reviewed the butterfly squat both for practice and to introduce it to our new athletes. We also went over the "press ups to the sky" move (shoulder press unweighted) to add to our fitness tools. The wod(work out of the day) was 10 butterfly squats, sprint 25 yrds,10 press ups" for about 5-10 minutes. The best part of the day is always the game and we played Crossfit dodgeball. If hit by a certain color ball then the athlete gets to practice the Crossfit exercise that corresponds with that color ball. Red ball = press ups..blue ball = butterfly squats etc. I must say that the fear I had about coaching youth athletes has totally been replaced with excitement, anticipation and fun! It is simply the best part of my day! I believe that I was born to be a Crossfit coach but more now than ever I believe I was born to coach Crossfit for kids!
