Crossfit USA Rowing Certification
This Saturday Crossfit USA continued it's mission to become a University of fitness for Connecticut and much of New England. We hosted 17 athletes from as far away Virginia and Miami. We will continue to pursue fitness knowledge as hard as we pursue our own individual fitness goals. The athletes don't know what the last wod is yet but it's a doozy! Take a look a few pics from the cert below.

Crossfit teen strongmen!
As most of you know several of our coach's recently went to Rob Orlando's strongman certification. We are convinced that adding elements of strongman training to the Crossfit philosophy will only enhance our fitness. This past week 2 of my teen athletes were in (by the way they are making tremendous strides) and we decided to test their newfound strength levels. Remember, these young men are only 13,and 15 years old! Here are a couple of shots of our guys in action doing a clean and press with a 100lb log.

65 and training hard...David beed!
We recently started a man who at first glance might seem out of place in a Crossfit gym if your one of those people who think Crossfit is only for lunatic 20 year old Navy Seals. Crossfit is for everyone..5 years old to 100 yrs old. Pictured below is a man who was once one of the fittest people on the planet and now is awakening the athlete within once more. It is going to be my pewrsonal mission to make this man strong as a bull and to feel like a 30 year old again. Stay tune for pics of his transformation! Nice working with you David,it's an honor!

Think you have to be in your 20's to train like this? Think again...think Crossfit !
We've all seen pictures and videos of the young and hard doing some superhuman stuff in Crossfit .However, the most gratifying thing about my chosen career is rediscovering the athlete withing people well past their 20's. There is nothing quite like watching a 38 year old mom nail 20 pull ups in a row or watching a 44 yr old lawyer do a workout that has 150 lb Atlas tones,100 lb lof lifts and 30 in box jumps in it.

Too often we allow our busy lives and conventional thinking to start the downward slide of fitness. Why should hard training, elite fitness and a fit looking body be only the purview of the young? The truth of the matter is that anyone, at any age and at any fitness level can begin a program that allows a person to become fit once again. To be an athlete, competitive and ultimately very healthy.

At Crossfit USA and our sister club Crossfit Relentless we coach all ages. Our current youngest athlete is 13 and our newest member of the family is a 63 former member of the Special Forces. If your 8 or 80,a high level athlete or 60 lbs overweight,if you have old injuries or fresh ones there is always a way to work towards a higher level of fitness . We do it everyday. The shot above is of Bill Hazard. He's a man closer to 40 than he is to 30 and in this shot he is doing a 1 arm kettle clean and press with a 50 lb kettle bell as part of his work out. He is also doing this while nursing a broken hand that happened while changing a tire on his car.

Once you've made up your mind that you not going to wallow any longer in a pool of self imposed suck. Once you have figured out that traditional globogyms neither have the tools or knowledge and in most cases the desire to help you regain your inner athlete, there is a place for you. It's in every corner of the world now. Small garages, back yards, wharehouses and 20 thousand sq foot elite training centers. That place is called Crossfit. In central Connecticut...that place is called Crossfit USA and Crossfit Relentless! Are you ready?

Crossfit Strongman seminar
This past weekend 4 of our Crossfit USa and Crossfit Relentless coach's went to a seminar focusing on strongman liftss(think 650 lb tire flips, 200 lb stone lifts etc). As Crossfit a Crossfit coach we are always on the lookout for new ways to add to our fitness knowledge and further our fitness goals. This was one of the best seminars I have attended in a long time and I am more sore than I have been since my Crossfit Level 1 cert. The day centered around learning, practicing and being able to coach various lifts like the Atlas stone lift, tire flipping, log and keg lifts as well as weight sled pulls.

As it turned out Strongman lifting melds perfectly with Crossfit methodology. Alaway varied, functional lifts performed at high intensity. What could be more functional than lifting and odd implement? In life things are rarely precisely balanced as in a barbell lift. I would say learning how to move a 650 lb tire is equally as important to your fitness as learning to squat properly. We did ten reps for time...average time was around 50 seconds.Talk about redlining your heart rate? Take a look at this pic of Glenn getting comfy with 650lbs !

At both Crossfit Relentless and Crossfit USa you will all start to be coached on how to add these vital, important movements to your execise bag of tools. As an added bonus we will be hosting this seminar at Crossfit Relentless on April 3rd( Sat) . The fee for the day is $100 per athlete and is well worth every penny. I personally paid a lot more than this to do the same seminar and negotiated a cheaper rate to have as many of you who are interested be able to attend this. Mark it in your calendars.
